What are Anatomy and Physiology
Anatomy is the study of the structure and shape of the body and body parts and their relationship. Physiology is the study of how body parts work or function. In our case, we are only studying the nails, hand/ foot, and lower arm/ leg.

About the Course
Because nail technicians come into contact with the nail, hand, and lower arm, and sometimes the toenails, foot, and lower leg, it is essential that nail technicians understand its anatomy & physiology to spot potential issues and avoid harmful effects of treatments like infections or rashes.
Entry Requirements
A person displaying a high level of interpersonal skills, in particular excellent communication, listening skills, empathy, patience, tact, diplomacy, and timekeeping. Well-groomed appearance and mature disposition. The Nail Technician course is an individual qualification allowing candidates to work in industry or as self-employed technicians.
What will I study?
This course comprises of four easy lessons.
Module 1 – Nail Anatomy
Easy-to-follow lessons on the structure and function of the nail, bones of the hand & lower arm, foot & lower leg. You will receive a study guide with a sample of all multi-choice questions that are in your final multi-choice exam at the end of each lesson. This study guide helps familiarise you with the wording and layout of your lesson multi-choice exam.
Module 2 – Bones of the Hand & Lower Arm, Foot & Lower Leg
Easy to follow lessons on the structure and function bones of the hand & lower arm, foot & lower leg. You will receive a study guide with a sample of all multi-choice questions that are in your final multi-choice exam at the end of each lesson. This study guide help familiarise you with the wording and layout of your lesson multi -choice exam.
Module 3 & 4 – Nail Diseases & Disorders
Because nail technicians come into contact with the nail, hand & lower arm, and sometimes the toenails, foot & lower leg, it is essential that nail technicians understand its anatomy & physiology to spot potential issues and avoid harmful effects of treatments like infections or rashes.
So, it’s essential to be familiar with all nail diseases & disorders to keep ourselves and our clients safe.
On completion of your anatomy & physiology lessons, you are prepared to begin with a review of the purpose of client consultation form. As a therapist, you must understand the importance of the consultation form in detail as you will be working in direct contact with the body structures. It is also vital that you have full knowledge of relevant diseases and disorders of the nail and surrounding skin to be aware of when and when not to treat a client and only operate within certain perimeters.
